My poor Grant. He is the first of my children to have the unfortunate title of breaking a bone!:( Ouch. Monday we were leaving to pick Gabe up from school and I have one of those automatic door-openers (from the key remote). I opened both doors and put Garrett is his seat while Grant went around to his side. Well, those of you who read this blog have heard me mention that Grant is my strong-willed child. In his independent way, he got upset that I had opened the door FOR him and he tried to close it so he could re-open it by himself. I was still putting Garrett in his seat and yelled for him to stop before he pinched his fingers. Sure enough he screamed and had shut his fingers in the door. I literally felt it in my heart! When your child is in pain sometimes I think mother’s can feel it with them and I instantly caught my breath when it happened. His fingers are still so little that I knew he got hurt badly but I didn’t think anything was broken. Well…his middle finger is broken, we went to Urgent Care yesterday and got X-rays. I’m so happy we decided to get it looked at though because initially I really just thought it would be okay. It was swollen but he still had mobility and wasn’t too upset about it. Thank goodness we decided to be extra-cautious and find out for sure. Anyway, that has been the crisis in our house for the week. I’m off to wake the kids up and take Grant to the Orthopedic doctor now, we’ll see what happens after that. My poor little buddy and his precious finger! I hope that is the first and LAST bone ever broken by my children!
