I did it!! My adrenaline must still be pumping because I’m on cloud 9! All I ever wanted was to finish, but I was hoping for a time between 2:11-2:15. Well, I beat that big time! Compared to a “real” runner my time is still slow (about a 9:19 minute mile average) but I am more than happy to claim 2 hours 2 minutes! The entire day is such an event overall, just to people-watch and see the different ages etc. is always inspiring. I was also really glad Mark (Rein from out morning show) was there so we could both encourage each other too. We started the race side-by-side but then got lost in the crowd. About midway through we reconnected but then I tried to push ahead to catch a listener who had passed us.:) He finished in 2:06 though, also way under his goal time! It was a banner day.:) I kept thinking I would hit a wall because almost every time I run I get to a point of fatigue but then press on and it goes away. That didn’t happen today though and I was very grateful.
Jim, my mom, and the boys walked from our hotel to the finish line but they almost missed me! They weren’t expecting I would finish so soon and Jim had this whole video-diary thing going and was going to record me crossing the finish line. Everything happened so fast though it was to late! Lol.:) No pictures, no video! haha. I was also visualizing seeing the boys at the final stretch and when it came to that moment…they were totally zoned out and didn’t even see me! I was yelling and waving my arms and they were off in la-la land.:) O’well. The best laid plans, right?! Lol.:) It couldn’t be better though, just a blessed day from start to finish! By the way, the guy that came in second for the full marathon is a purple heart recipient and Iraq war veteran. So inspiring to see what he did…way to go!!:)
Haha. I don’t know why Gabe and Grant look so mad here! They were in a great mood.
