Today I had the pleasure of speaking to the amazing Beth Moore. She has influenced and inspired thousands of women with her Bible Study and ministry. I was hoping she would be as delightful over the phone and thankfully, she really was!! Her new book is called “So Long Insecurity” and I’ve been reading it for the past few days. Initially I didn’t think I could get into this book because it’s not necessarily a top of mind issue for me. After I started paging through the book though, I became insecure at my false security! Lol. Boy this girl has my number. Even though I consider myself fairly at peace with who I am in Christ, I know there are some definite weak spots where I lack confidence and trust.
Some of the points that hit home for me include:
-With social networking and the ability to connect with more women online than ever before, it can also spark insecurity as we compare ourselves to our friends, family, other women online. (Ugh, why do we do that?!)
It’s important not to trigger another woman’s insecurity. If you are going with girlfriends to the beach, you don’t have to wear a string bikini just because you have a good figure. (No worries of that here)! Lol.
-Insecurity can make a fool of you. This chapter shares different stories of regrettable reactions that were born out of jealousy or insecurity.
-Sometimes personal disposition be a factor. A tenderhearted, sensitive person may be more susceptible to insecurity.
It’s a pretty long read and there is much more wisdom worth reading, but those were some areas that I zeroed in on. She covers everything from overcoming an insecure body image, to issues with men and much more.
So what is the remedy? Thankfully it’s a simple solution…it’s just a matter of implementing it and believing it! “Trust God”. If you can’t trust your job…you can trust God WITH your job. If you feel you can’t endure a personal struggle, trust God with that struggle. Basically that solid and sure method of resting in Christ and knowing who you are in him. She lays out some good action steps for changing insecure mindset, that is where the hard part comes in. It’s a good read. Oh, and Monday we will be giving away a copy on the morning show after our interview!:)
On another note, we popped in to World Market yesterday and snagged some surprises:
I rarely get there but when I do, I always enjoy the things we find. They have great prices on spices! I am also happy to try this Tabouli in a box. My friend Jean makes it often (it’s like Indian salad) and I made it once and really liked it. It’s healthy and easy so I’ll give it a try!:) That’s about it for today. Tomorrow is my mom’s birthday. The big “4-5”! Just kidding. She looks it though. Happy birthday to my hero. My mom.

Beth Moore always throws those zingers at ya in her books and studies. When I did Breaking Free years ago, I thought, "I don't have any bondage issues but maybe I can help someone else." Wrong! I found I was addicted to the men in my life – before God. He is a jealous God and showed me how much He loves and provides security for me – way more dependable and true than any human ever could be.
Will enjoy hearing the interview. Beth is one person I hope to bump into in my travels someday…

I am going to do my best to stream it into the kitchen that morning as I get the kids breakfast…Thanks for the heads up Brooke! Your show has been a huge blessing…not only for me but my kids love it too. I wrote about your show about 2 weeks ago in one of my posts. Your January segments really inspired me and helped give me tangible ideas… http://missiondrivenmom.blogspot.com/2010/02/whats-for-dinner.html
Also, thank you for the compliments regarding my blog, it reflects the journey I started in January of being a better steward of all things in my life. I love your site too and follow you through the blogger feed.
I hope you have a great weekend too! God Bless!
