Moms are nurturers by nature, but today was a reminder of how important it is to not just care for our family, but ourselves too. First off, I received some news; after years of knowing something was wrong with my health, I finally found out what it was. I don’t know if you’ve ever been in that situation, but it can be maddening when you know that there is a problem, but it is either ignored or dismissed by a doctor. After spending way too much money on infertility treatments, shots, pills, numerous ultrasounds and doctor’s appointments, I decided to go a different route. I found an excellent physician who practices NaPro technology, which is a natural, faith-based method of treating women’s reproductive issues at the SOURCE (not just the symptoms). As you may know, we are now on an amazing adoption adventure, but it wasn’t just about conceiving, it was about an overall health issue that needed to be corrected.
Anyway, I have been seeing this doctor for about a year. I have dealth with bizarre problems since Garrett’s birth. I was supposed to get bloodwork (and lots of it, at different times) to determine the problem a year ago when I started seeing the new doc. However, I put it off…..for a year! Life is busy, family needs come first, and I just didn’t have time to deal with my pesky health problems. What a mistake. I went in for the results today and got an earful. One one hand, it was validation that I’m not crazy and I was right to believe there were issues. However, I regret I didn’t do it sooner! It turns out I have something called
“Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase deficiency”. Got that? Ha ha. Called, MTHFR for short, it’s a blood clotting disorder. I have a higher risk, even at my age of developing blood clots and having fertility problems. It also may explain two of my past three miscarriages. So many of the pieces of the puzzle of the last 10 years of my life came together in an instant. I spent so much time, money and tears trying to figure it out, and all it took was a simple blood test. You can click here to learn more about it. I also had a few other issues (who knew I was so out of whack?!) Don’t answer that. Lol. Anyway, these are some of my vitamins, and I intend on taking them faithfully from here on out.
Moms, please take care of yourself too!:) With my own mom’s recent surgery, and my mother-in-law’s health problems, it’s a sobering reminder that we need healthy loved ones! If are are due to see the doc…please go!:) You are valuable. Speaking of health, I ran across a recipe for making crock pot yogurt (tasty and good for you too). You pick the flavors and make as much as you like. Fun family activity too! Click here for the recipe.

i've been drinking bird nest soup every night (i only get the homemade kind back at home). the only reason why i drink it is because it's supposed to be good for complexion.
i’ve been taking the store-bought kind online (e.g. http://www.geocities.jp/hongkong_bird_nest/index_e.htm of famous branded only of course) which is directly mailed from Hong Kong. this would be at a more affordable price.
