Happy New Year! Our last day before “back to the grind” was quite busy. Taking the tree down, putting decorations away, and preparing to resume our daily routine of work and school.
In the book I recently reviewed: “Celebrating Saints and Seasons,” there are some great tips for gearing up for the new year. One of them we employed today as a way to begin January with enthusiasm. Basically, we put to put together a few new supplies to be presented the evening before back-to- (home)school. That way it gives the kids a little boost and excitement to get back into the learning routine (that’s the hope anyway)!:) The kids love supplies, so a pack of pencils is actually a pretty special treat. Jim and I headed out for a spontaneous “date” to Target to gear up. If we had more time, and more funds to plan, we could’ve gotten more creative, but it was still fun to put together the little packages for the boys. Here is Gabe’s:
With that, I think we are ready to go!
This year seems funny in terms of plans, and goals. Normally we have a vacation mapped out, I have speaking events on the calendar and various other commitments. This year though, our months are virtually vacant! With so many unknowns with our adoption timeline, we have cleared our schedules (for the most part) and are in “standby” mode. Our hope is that we will hear something sooner, rather than later, but at this point there is just no way of knowing. Carpe Diem! Always a good motto, just trying to seize the day, appreciate the present and trust God’s providence for what lies ahead. 🙂
I'm very interested in homeschooling. I was wondering, what curriculum are you using?
