This weekend went too fast! It was a nice mix of a little bit of everything. On Saturday we stumbled across a wonderful little film called “My Dog Skip.” It’s based on a true story, set it in Mississippi during WWII and revolvs around a boy and his dog. Enough said, we were in! Hook, line and sinker. It is a definite home run movie for families of all ages.
We found the movie while surfing Netflix and once again, hit gold. We decided to try Netflix in an attempt to save money. We ditched the cable/phone/Internet bundle, Jim found some good ways to cut costs, and Nextflix was one of them. For $9.99 a month we receive unlimited movies, and we LOVE the “play instantly” selections. We’ve been captivated by new discoveries like “Everest: Beyond the Limit,” educational documentaries like “Sound and Fury” (about the cochlear implant) and great true-life films like “Ip Man”. Netflix all the way!
The other weekend highlight was a hike to Brandywine Falls in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The boys have been jumping off the walls, and they needed somewhere to focus their physical energy. This did it! It was a 1 1/2 mile hike each way, through snow, hills, and winding trails. We bundled up and headed out for a brisk hike. It took a long time and we were all exhausted by the end (3 miles total) but it felt GREAT! There is nothing like appreciating God’s creation with the beauty of the snow covered trees, animal tracks and complete peacefulness of the forest. Time for some chili and hot chocolate…or just plain chocolate. 😉
