I just returned from the grocery store a week’s worth of delicious ingredients, or so I hope. 🙂 With our busy schedule lately (visits to the hospital, baseball, etc) we haven’t been eating the best, and I needed to get in gear. I visited one of my favorite websites to stock up on healthy recipes. Tonight on the menu is “Cranberry Crockpot Chicken.” Perfect for a rainy day too. Yum. Good news at the grocery store: the young man at the checkout referred to me as “Miss” (I haven’t heard that in years, usually it’s “ma’m “) Lol. The bad news: kalamata olives are expensive. Sheesh. I knew they were pricey but…have they gone up recently? Like it or not, the boys will be eating them after the $6.37 investment!
In the movie department, we have been repeatedly watching Gabe’s new “all-time favorite” (that’s a quote). 🙂 I definitely approve though, and it’s now in my own top 10. It’s the true story of world renowned neurosurgeon Ben Carson. What a story! Inspiring for all ages. Especially since Gabriel has wanted to be a physician for the past few years, but academic success does not come easily for him. This movie was just the encouragement he needed, and I think it should be required viewing in all schools!
We found ours on Netflix, but local libraries also carry the film. Here is a clip.

Oh my goodness. I think I have found a new favorite too! Definitely should be required viewing in schools. And btw Brooke, my husband is an MD (orthopedics/sports medicine) and would be happy to give Gabe any advise or help at any point in his academic career 🙂 Might be a bit far to come down here, but he also knows a few very skilled physicians at the Cleveland Clinic when and if Gabe wants to shadow once he gets older. 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing!

Hi Laura,
Thanks for the great feedback! I hope you and the family are doing well! Thanks for the input about Gabriel, maybe sometime he could shoot Brian an e-mail? They do have internships for teens at the Clinic, and Gabe is counting the years until he is eligibile! 🙂 Hopefully he will keep that level of zeal for the profession. I am keeping your family in prayer. I hope you have a short wait until you receive your referral!

He could definitely send an email! Send through FB or otherwise.
Thanks for the prayers too 🙂 We're keeping you, your hubby, and little angel in ours as well.

Hi! I wanted to share a family favorite recipe. I replace the Bisquick with 2 boxes of Jiffy cornbread (use the milk and eggs that the Jiffy box calls for) and add a can of chopped tomatoes. The kids love it & it is easy!

I am definitely going to try your crock pot recipe. The weather still calls for comfort food! On another note, I heard you talking about that movie on the show yesterday. I added it to my netflix list.
Have a great day, Fish listener 🙂
