Here are a few photos from our Thanksgiving celebration. Can you spot the fibber? Lol.
Our usual “porcupine” pretzel dip appetizer was turned into a turkey (per Garrett’s suggestion). The pimentos from the olives made a pretty fine gobbler!
We had much to celebrate today. In addition to two beautiful babies to our family, this year we witnessed my dad’s heroic fight against lung cancer. In these last few months, my dad has been tube fed, gone through a period of being completely unable to swallow, two sessions where they stretched his esophagus, as well as radiation, chemo and numerous other unpleasant treatments and their lingering side effects. I know this is all-too familiar for so many people who are reading this right now. Walking with anyone battling cancer is heartbreaking. Yet, for TODAY, he is in a place where he can eat solid food again, and even TASTE it (that hasn’t happened in months). To sit beside him and watch him eat, taste, and enjoy his food was Thanksgiving gift beyond words.
You never know what the next year will bring. As I look back at one year ago, I never could’ve imagined the massive changes that would take place in 12 months. Clearly God is in control…not me, and I am wholly grateful for that! It was emotional to look at Karolina and Gus, and as you may have guessed, I shed quite a few tears of gratitude for their presence at the table too.
