And… they’re off! Another school year has officially begun. My emotions are mixed because I’m still in shock that I have a middle schooler, and the house seems freaskishly quiet during the day, but I do love the time to breathe. Hopefully that will mean more website updates too! The blog has been sorely neglected (thank you for sticking with me). Just a quick recap of the week. Yesterday was my birthday (#34) and the first without my dad. That was hard. I suppose it always will be though. On a happy note, Jim bought me a Kitchen Aid mixer and it is awesome. I can’t believe how much I’ve used it already. THANK YOU QVC! It came with all the bells and whistles and a glass bowl. It’s the first bowl with a spout I have ever owned! Ha. What joy. Jim also blessed me with a subscription to Birchbox. This girl was excited.
Now, back to school..
In keeping with tradition, I took the day off of work to have breakfast with the boys.
MaryAnn’s Donuts. I love the diner setting. The restaurant was playing Fox News and there was a table of elderly gentleman talking about current events. My kind of place.
In doing some Pinterest-ing for back-to-school prep, I ran across a neat idea and created our own little DIY Lunch Station. It has been a big time saver already. It’s a simple Sterilite drawer container in our pantry with some snacks:
The kids can grab and go.
I also made one for the refrigerator. The veggies, string cheese and yogurts are all set and ready for the week.
The original idea and step-by-step instructions are posted over at MomAdvice. Her tutorial is much better, and I love her chalk signs too! Have a GREAT week!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the storage containers as a lunch prep area. I will be doing this – always trying to make the"agony" of making a lunch a little easier. 🙂

Happy Belated Bday!! I am glad you are enjoying your new mixer!! I love mine. I got it at Bed Bath and Beyond with a 20% off coupon and $200.00 in gift cards after my wedding in 2006. The paddle attachment with the scraper is such a time saver!! I bough one (it didn't come with mine) at the Aurora Farms outlet that has a scraper on BOTH sides! It comes in handy for sure!
Enjoy your peaceful days!

Thanks Amy! I totally agree about life's little short cuts, any added tricks to make things easier is a blessing. 🙂 Have a GREAT school year!
Thanks Angie. I love those 20% BB&B coupons! I didn't know they made a 2-sided scraper, I must check that out. I have used the mixer almost every day so far, great investment for sure. God bless!
