Happy Tuesday! Hope your week is off to a great start. VBS is underway here, and we’ve got little Cowpokes walking around singing Bible songs to a Western theme. A BIG thanks to the many dedicated volunteers and churches who put awesome VBS’ all over the country. I know it takes many hands and hearts to pull it all together. It’s impressive, and an important ministry…thank you. Now on to the quick takes. I thought I would adopt this little feature since it’s quick and to the point, and I need to practice more of that! 🙂 Ha. Here we go:
Reading: Still working on the novel “21 Balloons” and also working our way through “Mightier Than the Sword: World Folktales for Strong Boys” by Jane Yolen. This is positively scrumptious, with generous helpings of of virtue, love, courage, and peace presented on every page.
Thinking About: This quote from Laura Ingalls Wilder. “It is still best to be honest and truthful; to make the most of what we have; to be happy with simple pleasures and to be cheerful and have courage when things go wrong.”
Gearing Up: For some big events with the radio station, and you are invited! First, is The Lerner School for Autism 5K and Family Fun Run. The Lerner School is part of Cleveland Clinic Children’s and is dedicated to treatment, education, and research for children, adolescents, young adults, and families dealing with Autism Spectrum Disorder. ALL proceeds raised will benefit the Cleveland Clinic Center for Autism! The event is on Saturday, July 13. To sign up or donate, please click here for more info.
Next is the Jeffery Paul Wigs for Kids Zoo walk on July 27. We are putting together “Team Fish.” This is a fantastic family event that helps an awesome cause! Click here for more details.
Praying: “Prayer in a Bad Mood” (I didn’t realize there was such a prayer, but this formal prayer does exist! And, I for one, am keeping it handy).:) “Heavenly Father, I awoke this morning in a bad mood and I have been unable to shake it so far. Everything bothers me and everyone rubs me the wrong way. I just cannot seem to get my true bearings. Help me to think of your salvation-your countless gifts and overwhelming love for me. Let me relax and forget life’s cares by placing myself wholly in your hands. Grant that this mood soon will pass and I will be able to bask in your love and communicate that love and light to others.”-New Saint Joseph People’s Prayer Book.
Preparing: For this weekend. Saturday marks the one year anniversary of my father’s passing. Sunday is Karolina’s third birthday. Lots of emotions. The bitter, with the sweet.
Playing: Kristian Stanfill’s song: Always.“Oh my God, he will not delay. My refuge, my strength, always.”
