Two weeks ago I turned 35. For my birthday, my husband Jim surprised me with the best gift a mama could ask for. He purchased the disc of our family photo session with Beach Productions. This was an event I anticipated for months when I contacted Julie Dreelin and booked our date. We knew it would be a splurge for us, and would probably be years before we could afford something like it again, but I wanted this moment in time captured with the ages and stages of the kids. Once I saw Julie’s portfolio, I knew it would be a worthwhile investment. Sure enough, the pictures made me get a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye! As much as I loved them, we had to wait though, in order to save up enough to purchase the actual disc. I thought it would be another several months (maybe Christmas?) before that would be a reality, but bless my sweet hubby, he pulled off the surprise! For any of you who have laid eyes on special pictures of your family that make your heart go pitter-patter..you know it’s more than just a photo. It’s a snapshot of the days that when I am old and gray, I will find great joy in. When life with babies seems like a lifetime ago, that I will clutch one of these simple pictures to my chest and close my eyes and smile with the memory that these were the best days of my life. I wanted to share some of the memories with you. Here are just a few of the beautiful photos that Julie captured along the beach of Corrolla, NC, in the summer of 2013.
These are just a few of the over two hundred photos Julie captured. Best of all, she managed to do it in record time (under one hour I think?!) This was the icing on the cake for Jim and the boys who normally lament any and all photos. Ha ha. The hard part will now be, narrowing down which pics to put in frames, hang on the wall, and/or make into a canvas. I’ve never done that before, but I’ve heard there are different qualities and the process varies by company (?) so I need to do some research there. We’ve had our tough days when stress mounts, both babies are screaming (this has occurred almost daily at some point, for the past two years) and nerves get frayed. Seeing these pictures though, really hits home how beautiful each one of my precious children are, both inside and out. I’m grateful for my husband and the silly, super-fun family we share and the Lord the Giver of Life, as our Commander-in-Chief. Thank you to Julie Dreelin at Beach Productions and my stealthy hubby for pulling off the best surprise ever. 🙂
